THANKSGIVING
My prayer for all of you this season is that God give you a heart of thankfulness for all that you have, for all that you have had and all that will be. Remember all the blessings and none of the pain! I am reminded of stories on the internet of people who make choices, like the blind lady who chose to love her new room in the nursing home even before they took her to it. When asked how this could be she reminded them that each day when we awake we make a choice of whether it will be a good day or a bad day. She chose it will be a good day and she chose that she would like her new room… Our lives are choices all day… may your choices be for God and for a good life. Have a Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving holiday. ![]()

Positive reinforcement when needed…We received a wonderful e-mail recently which read: “I used to live a stone’s throw from Don’s place and would hear often how much the people respected and appreciated his work. I did not know he had passed away. Many times we took children from our project to him for medical care...I don’t know what we would have done without Don and all of his staff.” Cast yourself in the arms of God and be very sure that if He wants anything of you, He will fit you for the work and give you the strength. St. Philip Neri
There have been several situations of late that have triggered doubts and constant thoughts of “Don would have known how to deal with this.” … but then I received a beautiful little story ending with “God is in control” and I remind myself that it is only up to me to pray and do my best, God truly will handle the rest. I was again reassured this morning by reading the thoughts about being strengthened for what I am to be doing. Obviously this pulled sciatica I have been dealing with (yep, from lifting cargo) was to slow me down to remember to pray and accept God’s wisdom and help. ![]()
FOOD PACKSWe thank Feed My Starving Children for another gift of 38 pallets of nutritionally balanced food for the hungry of Haiti. So as we go into this winter (70 degrees in Haiti) we have a year’s supply of powdered baby formula and now the food packets to go with the shipment of 43,000# of split black beans which will soon be in Haiti, the food program is good. We thank you, all. The companies for their generosity and you for the shipping costs. ![]()
There is an initial supply of boxes of food packets stacked in the carport area close to the front gate for convenience of distribution and the rest are inside in dry storage so they will not collect as much moisture. Food—what a blessing!

BURNS…Burns are not only painful, but in a culture without a medicine cabinet in every home, infections set in quickly and burns, even minor ones, can quickly become life threatening. That makes the recent monetary gifts to purchase SSD for the burns even more important. It has been suggested that we can use triple antibiotic cream on the burns rather than SSD, but that will take a couple of things: first, a source making it financially viable and secondly, retraining the staff who have so much faith in the product they know works. ![]()

SPEAKINGIt felt good, actually, to be speaking again about Haiti and God was with me in being able to talk about Don without breaking down. God is sooo good. Now I have a couple of more invitations and am not as apprehensive about it now. Who knows, if I can handle this, perhaps one day soon I can actually start thinking of going down myself and seeing what Haiti without Don looks and feels like. I have been getting invitations that it is time, they want to “see my face.” ![]()
BUT FIRSTWe will get a load of cargo ready to ship to CASCO for the final Christmas pallet to leave by ship, a bunch of supplies for the clinic are needed and are scheduled to go down by air, then... We will be taking a little sabbatical. Actually cannot remember the last time I had a “vacation” but this will be a trip back to Indiana with Linda (my sister) returning home before the holidays. We will enjoy a bit of Autumn in Indiana and then back to Florida to final the shipments which will accompany Roseline to Haiti late November, for clinic replenishing and last of the Christmas details. Hopefully we will get out the December newsletter which is a smaller mailing—to contributors only—before she leaves. There will need to be one more small shipment for the cookies and last minute things for the Christmas party that will be flown down. ![]()
Worthy to ServeMake us, Lord, worthy to serve our brothers and sisters who are scattered all over the world, who live and die alone and poor. Give them today, using our hands, their daily bread. And, using our love, give them peace and happiness. Amen. —Mother Teresa

BETTER THAN LIFEWe are working with Mission Network News and have 20 of the CD’s featuring ten new songs drawn from the real-life stories of modern Christian men and women from around the world who have suffered and continue suffering because of their faith in Christ. Your own faith will be encouraged as you hear the stories of brothers and sisters in Christ from around the globe in song, and as you celebrate a faith in Christ Jesus that lifts you up and carries you through the hardships of life. The advance copy of the CD they sent here runs daily, the music is beautiful. You can get these CD’s at your local stores October 18. They are being released for the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church November 11. As I said, we have 20 copies here and will send them to the first 20 people who indicate with their contribution that they would like to have them. In the meantime, we thank you all so very much for your encouragement, your support and especially your prayers. It takes all three to keep us keeping on… Happy Thanksgiving!
